It is a very early known craft, there is in existence today eg. a pair of red socks with a separation for the toe ,(just as we would for the fingers of a glove) they are said to date from approximately 1000 years before Christ. Ancient records show it was the men who did the knitting with the women tending the sheep and spinning the wool. |

The great wheel was used until about 200 years ago,the wheel creates fine,even yarn by keeping an even tension. |
